Equus is a play written by Peter Shaffer, telling the story of a psychiatrist, Martin Dysart, who is attempting to treat a disturbed young man, Alan Strang. After inexplicably blinding six horses with an ice pick, Alan is brought to Dysart as his last chance for help. As the story unfolds and Dysart digs deeper, what he finds is a troubled young man who is religiously and sexually, confused and tormented.
