With music by Harvey Schmidt and lyrics by Tom Jones, The Fantasticks is very loosely based on the play The Romancers. Two young neighbors are tricked into falling in love by their father’s thru a long planned out deception. Only after failing in love and then out of love, the two young lovers see the world as it is instead of thru the fantasy that they had made it out to be. After returning home both find themselves more mature and ready to love each other once again.
